Deputy Director,Security
a) Job Specifications
Duties and responsibilities: -
- Overall supervision of the security functions in the Service;
- Coordinating, formulating and implementing security management policies, strategies and standard operating procedures;
- Supervising security officers and outsourced security personnel;
- Ensure the security, safety and well-being of all personnel, visitors and the premises;
- Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment and access points; permitting entry;
- Ensure operation of security equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques;
- Respond to emergencies to provide necessary assistance to employees and customers;
- Protect the Service’s assets relative to theft, assault, fire and other safety issues;
- Maintain environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls;
- Maintain organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements;
- Investigate security breaches;
- Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers;
- Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures;
- Maintain environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls;
- Maintain organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements;
- Adhere to all company service and operating standards;
- Ensure institutional compliance with relevant laws and regulations governing security;
- Follow procedures for various initiatives, including fire prevention, property patrol, traffic control and accident investigations;
- Liaise with external security providers to ensure the institution is secured.
b) Persons Specification
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
- At least ten (10) years’ experience, with three (3) as a senior officer in Government Security
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminology/Security Management or elated discipline;
- Master’s degree in Criminology/Security Management or related field;
- Membership of a relevant professional body in good standing is a must;
- Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks;
- Compliance with chapter six of the constitution.
