a) Job Specifications

Duties and responsibilities: -

1. Undertaking field inspections and audits for seed certification and market compliance;
2. Undertaking border inspection of seeds, plants, plant products and other regulated articles for compliance to import and export requirements;
3. Support in field survey activities and quarantine control;
4. Advice clients on market requirements, grading and certification of plant produce;
5. Manage documentation of databases related to phytosanitary and plant bio-security;
6. Support farmer advisory services and seed certification through stakeholder awareness meetings;
7. Support in undertaking post certification survey and post control activities;
8. Support in maintenance of accreditation and Quality Management Systems (QMS);
9. Assisting in data collection during national performance trials and Distinctness Uniformity and Stability trials;
10. Assisting in processing and examining applications for Plant Variety Protection.

b) Persons Specification

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

1. Diploma in Agriculture, Biotechnology, Entomology, Crop protection, Applied Biology, Seed Science, Horticulture or its equivalent from an institution recognized in Kenya;
2. Meets the provisions of the Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.

c) Skills

1. Proficiency in computer applications.
2. Communication skills;
3. Report writing and presentation skills;
4. Team player.

d) Competencies

1. Ability to work independently;
2. Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize work;
3. Demonstrated results in work performance.
