a) Job Specifications

Duties and responsibilities: -

1. Developing experimental designs and generating randomization plans for field and laboratory trials;
2. Receiving, analysing data and generating reports;
3. Support development and maintenance a data base of varieties under NPT and DUS;
4. Liaise with laboratory officers to generate reports for trends on compliance levels with quality and safety requirements;
5. Prepare control charts for quality control programs in the laboratory;
6. Prepare data templates for supervised field trials and sampling plans;
7. Preparing a list of officially released varieties for gazettement;
8. Employ appropriate data analytical packages for analysis of data;
9. Preparation of NPT and DUS Schedules for the purpose of invoicing;
10. Preparation of Schedules for NPT and DUS report sharing;
11. Design Database for imports and exports of plants, plant products and other regulated articles
12. Carry out data analysis for imports and exports;
13. Carry out mapping of the surveillance exercises using Arc GIS;
14. Provide statistical advice and trainings on surveys, data analysis and data collection for all departments in the Service
15. Supporting development of regulatory research proposals for funding;
16. Supporting regulatory research and generation of papers for publication; and
17. Support maintenance of Quality Management Systems (QMS) at the department.

b) Persons Specification

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

1. Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Statistics, Applied Biometrics of Chemometrics, Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, Seed technology (Statistics) or its equivalent from a University recognized in Kenya;
2. Meets the provisions of the Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
